Histopathologic Differentiation of Gastric Carcinomas Correlated with Age, Sex, and Anatomic sites

Abstract
According to the American Joint Commitee on Cancer, the staging recommendations apply only to carcinomas and not to other histologic types such as lymphomas or sarcomas. Histopathologic grades(G) of adenocarcinomas are divided into the following subtypes such as GX (Grade cannot be assessed), GI (Well differentiated), G2 (Moderately well differentiated), G3 (Poorly differentiated) and G4 (Undifferentiated).
During the recent 2 years from Feb. 1987 to Jan. 1989, 98 cases of adenocarcinoma of the stomach confirmed by surgery and gastrofiberscopic biopsy were reviwed.
Histopathologic grades of specimen were compared each by age, sex an anatomic sites.
In the group of younger age, poorly differentiated carcinomas were predominant, although that was not significant statistically.
There was no significant difference in the histopathologic differentiation between male and female patients.
No specific histopathologic grades were predominant in any sites of stomach.
